Last week we went to Robert Moncuit, located in Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger, Champagne-Ardenne, France. From Bodegas Puente del Ea we exclusively distribute their champagnes in Spain.
House founded in 1889, its history goes back five generations. Alex Moncuit started the vineyard in the 1890s but it was not until 1935 that Robert, his grandson created his first cuvée. Robert Moncuit continued to produce this exceptional Champagne until his death in 1987.
This Champagne house is now in the hands of his daughter Françoise and is his son Pierre Amillet, who has been the winemaker since 2000 and welcomed us into his house, showing us the facilities of his cellar.
The farm has 8 hectares of vineyards in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the town that is also home to Krug, in the heart of what is perhaps the most sought after of all the great crus in the Côte de Blancs.
